Esprit d'Automne 2025
More than an introduction, Esprit d'Automne opens the door to Borie de Maurel's collection of great reds. A first step, already full of the generous serenity that is the signature of the estate's red wines.
Tasting notes
Minerality speaks first: a touch of graphite, then scents of black olive, tobacco and spice that recall the clay-limestone soils of the petit Causse. Then comes the fruit — morello cherry, red berries — before a finish of mint and liquorice. What lingers is a sense of smooth harmony, of silky balance, almost at peace.
Terroir & grapes
Three hand-picked grapes make up the cuvée: Syrah (40%), Carignan (30%) and Grenache (30%), grown on the clay-limestone soils of the petit Causse, at the foot of the Montagne Noire.

The petit Causse, gateway to the Montagne Noire
At the foot of the Montagne Noire, the clay-limestone soils of the petit Causse hold on to the summer heat long after the harvest. Syrah, Carignan and Grenache each draw from them, in their own way, the same autumn light — the light that gilds the leaves before slipping underground. From this meeting of limestone and changing sky comes a round, serene wine, like the October light over the Causse.
